Has anybody else had their name dropped irregularly from the voting list?

Yes, I am registered.  No, I am not inactive.  Yes, my name was on the list posted outside my polling place yesterday.  Yes, I checked.  But when I went to vote this morning, my name was not on the list.  They had to check some kind of backup list to find me.  The poll workers said that there had been some kind of systematic error affecting a lot of workers in this way, and mentioned something a lost CD.

More info at my journal here.  Short version: looks like incompetence rather than fraud; yes, I got to vote.

Did this happen to anybody else?  Does anybody know what's going on?  For obvious reasons, the CEC's phone is busy at the moment.

Edited to add:

The same thing happened to me, at City Hall. I had received my voter registration confirmation in September, and then another reminder in October about the location of my polling place. Then I show up this morning and I'm suddenly not registered! I was just a wee bit peeved, but I still got to vote, so I'm okay with it in the end.

Maybe it's what manimota mentions here? http://search.twitter.com/search?q=%23wburvote

I had that happen to me once in Medford. Apparently I hadn't submitted my yearly census form, and they retaliated by removing my ability to vote. After that episode (I did get to vote, but no idea if they actually counted my vote) I always try to check with city hall to ensure I'm still on the rolls.

yup, happened to me at the erie street nursing home or whatever its called in cambridgeport - i voted with a provisional ballot in the primaries, filled out all the paperwork, mailed my mailables, got a confirmation that the erie street nursing home or whatever its called is my official polling place, went down this morning, and i wasn't on the list.

someone called one of the help hotline numbers though, and was informed that i was registered, so (thankfully) rather than making me use another provisional ballot, they wrote my name and address on the back of the list, and i got to vote as i normally would.

Yuppers. Same exact thing, just down in Ward 3, Precinct 5 at the Morse Elementary School.

(The odd thing is that it DIDN'T happen to my wife, and we moved to the neighborhood at exactly the same time.)

Ditto in Somerville

My wife and I moved to Somerville Ward 7, Precinct 3 recently, and we had the same issue -- I was on the list, she wasn't. The funny thing is, I voted in the September primary, and I'm pretty sure I remember seeing her name on the list then.

This happened to my husband and I in ward 7, precinct 3. We sent in our paperwork together, got our confirmation letters back on the same day, and now he's on the list of registered voters and I am not.

I had to cast a provisional ballot, and I'm crossing my fingers that it will be counted.

(and apparently we both reply to posts at nearly the same time, too. Too bad we apparently couldn't get registered at the same time, too!)
